Tristan Kent is one of the most promising young rally drivers to come out of the ACT in recent years. Not only has Tristan a heap of talent, but he also has the ambition and dedication to go with it, and is determined to rise to the top of the sport in Australia and internationally.

With his father a regular competitor in ACT and NSW events since the early 1980's, Tristan was born and bred into rallying. At the age of 5 Tristan got his first motor bike and took up flat track racing with the ACT Motorcycle Club. At the age of 8 he moved into motocross where he competed until the age of 15 when he gave it away to focus on rallying.

At just 12 years of age Tristan competed in his first rally as co-driver for his father where they finished 5^th outright and Tristan picked up the award for 1^st novice co-driver. Tristan went on to co-drive for numerous drivers in everything from club events to national level, and picked up a number of top 3 placings along the way in NSW Clubman and State level events.

In 2005, at the age of 14, he became the youngest ever competitor in an ARC round when he co-drove for Matt Ruggles in the WPS Rally Bathurst. And in 2006, at 15 years of age, he won the Clubman co-driver title in the ACT Regional Rally Series, co-driving for his father.

Despite his many successes as a co-driver, he is probably best remembered for making national and international news with this effort when co-driving for Peter Jerie in the 2007 Rally of Canberra.

At 13 he competed in his first motorkhana, and on the day of his 14^th birthday, competed in his first khanacross where he finished 6^th outright and picked up a fastest time on one of the tests. A week after his 15^th birthday he competed in his first supersprint at Wakfield Park, and a month later drove in his first rallysprint at Mundarlo Road near Wagga and picked up the Clerk of Course encouragement award.

Finally, in 2008, just 3 days after his 17^th birthday and getting his civil driver's licence, Tristan got to compete in his first rally as a driver at the Rally of the Manning Valley near Taree. Starting nervously from car 31, he managed to finish 15^th outright and 1^st in his class. He hasn't looked back since.

2011 saw Tristan compete in the Australian Rally Championship, lured by the new rallyschool.com.au Junior Challenge. Despite a promising day one result at the International Rally of Queensland where he was comfortably leading the junior challenge and finished 6^th outright in the ARC, a mishap on the opening stage of Day 2 saw him out of the rally.

Not to be deterred, and despite his car not being ready, he borrowed his father's rally car and entered the Scouts Rally SA in a bid to qualify for the junior challenge final. Unfortunately, even though he won on times, he missed out on qualifying by just 2 points. As a consolation however, he did finish 4^th outright and 1^st in his class in the ARC.
